Catechists & Aides

Do you love your faith? Do you enjoy working with children? Yes? Serving as a catechist or aide might be a great fit for you!

If your schedule is too busy and you don’t have extra time during the week, then Children’s Liturgy of the Word (CLOW) is perfect for you because it takes place during Sunday morning Mass. This opportunity is for children ages four, five, and six (and seven year olds who have not received their First Eucharist). Children are dismissed from Mass after the Introductory Rite to hear and reflect on the Sunday readings at their age level, have a simple interactive Profession of Faith and pray for the needs of the church, the community, and the world. They return to the larger assembly at the Preparation of the Gifts.

You can serve as a leader or simply accompany the children as an aide; no experience necessary. You can help as little as once a month, or as often as every Sunday.

If you have an hour and a half to give after 9:30 am Mass each week (until noon), then Children’s Faith Formation (CFF) sounds like a perfect fit! We need two classroom aides, plus a hall monitor to help with bathroom breaks. If you are interested but cannot commit weekly, we welcome subs as well.

If you are interested in one or both of these ministries but aren’t sure if they are a good fit, we encourage you to simply sit in on a session so you can discern your next step!
