Assumption Youth Attend National Catholic Youth Conference

December 19, 2025 – November 20-23 was the weekend of the National Catholic Youth Conference (NCYC) in Indianapolis, IN. As part of a group from the Midland area parishes, teens from Assumption were in attendance together with Assumption’s leader of Youth Ministry, Kathy Russell, joining 16,000 other teens and chaperones from across the country!

NCYC helped prepare and empower youth to say yes to God through prayer, music, dynamic speakers, Adoration, and the sacraments of Reconciliation and Eucharist.

This year, for the first time ever, participants also experienced a real-time digital encounter with Pope Leo XIV!

Here’s just a few of the ways that our young people were impacted by their experience at NCYC:

“In a time when my faith felt dull, NCYC brought my priorities into focus.”

“I want everybody to experience the presence of the Lord and the pure joy of hearing the creed spoken by everyone there at once.”

“At NCYC, I saw God in so many people…I hope I always remember the feeling when I felt God.”

“I can’t even start to say how grateful I am to have had the opportunity to go…I can’t wait to spread what I learned.”

We would like to thank the Assumption Parish family for supporting our youth. NCYC can truly be a transforming experience for those who go.

We encourage you to read the testimonies of the 12 young people who participated in NCYC and how they were transformed. You can also watch a recording of Pope Leo’s address to the youth!
