Lenten Enrichment Evening Explores Scriptio Divina

Our parish has been blessed with such amazing presentations in our Monday evening Lenten Enrichment Series!

This week, Fr. Jose Maria Cabrera from All Saints Parish in Bay City introduced us to the practice of Scriptio Divina, the prayerful writing of Sacred Scripture by hand. Participants practiced writing and reflecting on Bible passages of their choosing and were able to flip through some books of the Bible that Fr. Jose has written out (including some in their original languages of Greek and Hebrew).

For those who were unable to attend Fr. Jose’s presentation, we encourage you to give this devotion a try at home. You don’t need perfect handwriting or fancy supplies to practice Scriptio Divina; you can get started with just a Bible, a notebook, and a ballpoint pen. (Or if you would like your paper to look old fashioned, you can order a “vintage journal” on Amazon!)

Our Lenten Enrichment Series continues on Mondays at 6:30 pm. On March 23, our Director of Music & Liturgy, Jim Renfer, will offer a music and prayer service entitled “The Music of the Saints.” On March 30, Fr. Jim Bessert will present on “Fully Experiencing Holy Week Liturgy.”
